Maybe you can't get to your local Starbucks? Or maybe you just want to impress your family and friends with your barista skills. Either way, this recipe is the answer. You will be serving delicious gingerbread lattes in under 20 minutes!

    Table of Contents

Ingredients for the Gingerbread Latte Recipe

To make your very own gingerbread latte you only need a few simple ingredients. Most of these ingredients might be in your cupboard already! You will need:

    • Ginger powder
    • Ground nutmeg
    • Brown sugar
    • Cinnamon sticks (or powder)
    • Water
    • Milk
    • Espresso
    • Whipped cream
    • Ginger biscuits

    Gingerbread Latte Recipe

    • First you will need to make a ginger syrup! Pour 4 cups of water into a saucepan. Then add 2-3 cups of brown granulated sugar (depending on how sweet you want it), 4 teaspoon of ground ginger, 2 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 cinnamon stick (or 1 teaspoon of cinnamon) and stir.
    • Bring the ingredients to a boil in the saucepan.
    • Then, leave the mixture to simmer on a low heat for 12-15 minutes.
    • Now you will need 1 shot of an espresso and some hot milk.
    • Start by pouring the espresso shot into a cup, the add ¼ cup of the gingerbread syrup and pour in the milk (as much as you like).
    • Finally top with some whipped cream and ginger biscuit - drink up!

    Alternatives

It is very easy to substitute the ingredients in this recipe. For example, you can use fresh ginger instead of ginger powder if you want a stronger ginger flavour.

Use any milk of your choice. If you are vegan you can use oat milk, almond milk or coconut milk.

You are also free to use any sugar of your choice. However, for this recipe, I prefer brown sugar because it is made from molasses and gives a deep caramel/toffee-like flavour.

Thanks for sharing! Does one milk work better than another?

Hi Vanessa, not really. It all depends on your preference. Full-fat milk will be creamier compared to low-fat milk and plant-based milk will have a slightly different flavor depending on the type.
